LESSONS FROM ACTS 12:1-19 (CONCLUSION)

10. When Peter went to the house where many people had gathered and were praying, they didn’t believe it was truly Peter. They were praying for Peter’s release and when God answered their prayer, they doubted it. It means they were praying but they didn’t have faith that they would receive what they were praying for.

Whenever you pray, pray expecting God to answer. Don’t pray with doubt in your heart but with faith.

When you pray, also prepare yourself to receive an answer from God. Peter kept knocking before they finally opened the door and they were completely amazed when they saw him. They were praying for his release but not ready or prepared to open the door for him.

Are you ready and prepared for what you have been praying for?

11. All these things happened in one night. In one night, the angel of the Lord appeared to Peter, woke him up and told him what to do. That same night, the chains fell off Peter’s hands. Still that same night, Peter prepared himself by fastening his belt and putting on his sandals. That same night, he followed the angel and they passed the first and second guard and came to the iron gate that leads to into the city. Still that same night, the iron gate opened for them by itself and they went out. And still that night, Peter realized that what had happened was true, he went to meet those who were praying, explained to them how the Lord had brought him out of prison and then he left and went somewhere else.

A lot can happen within a short period of time God created the whole universe in 6 days and everything He created was good. If God from nothing could create the whole universe in 6 days, then with God all things are possible even within a short period of time. Also note that everything God created within those 6 days was very good, pleasing and useful. With God, you can do good, pleasing and useful things within a short time frame.

12. When morning came, there was a tremendous confusion among the guards; they were terribly worried and wondered what had happened to Peter.

A soldier was guarding Peter on each side that night and two other soldiers were guarding the entrance to the jail. When the angel appeared, light shone in the cell, yet the guards didn’t notice when the chains fell off Peter’s hands; they didn’t hear. Peter and the angel passed by the two guard posts yet none of the guards there saw them. The guards only noticed that Peter had escaped the next morning and even when Herod gave orders to search for him, they couldn’t find him. And Herod ordered the guards to be put to death.

Isn’t God powerful? Do you see how God works? Peter who was initially tied with 2 chains walked past tight security to safety all in one night and none of the guards knew what happened or where he was.

I don’t know what type of difficult situation you’re in but there is a God who can deliver you from it all. Sometimes when God intervenes in a person’s life, people will be around but they will not know or understand what is happening.

13. Peter’s chains fell off his hands by itself. The iron gate that leads to the city opened for him and the angel by itself.

God doesn’t need human beings to move obstacles from your way. When God intervenes, mountains can move by itself, doors can open by itself and chains can fall off by itsef. You don’t need to look for human beings to help you move certain obstacles. With God, those obstacles can move by themselves.

God can use human beings to help you and He can also use objects to help you. God can use anybody or anything to help you. Don’t depend on anyone; depend only on God.

Don’t be discouraged if you don’t have anyone to help you. God’s power does not need human beings or anything to work. His power is unlimited.

GOD BLESS YOU!
